MUSTANG v3 A Guide to Herds
------------------------------------------------------------
I PLAY A STALLION
Q: WHERE DO I GO FIRST? A: Well, this really is up to you. Stallions ages 3 and older can join a herd or remain loners. You can't claim a herd land until you have at least 100 posts on your account and one herd member.
Q: AM I ALLOWED IN ANOTHER STALLION'S HERD? A: This is decided by the stallion leading the herd.
Q: CAN A STALLION CLAIM ME? A: Yes!
Q: WHEN CAN I CLAIM MARES, AND WHAT ARE THE RULES? A: Stallions can start claiming and stealing at age 3. Claiming can occur anywhere. However, force claiming may be done in any claimed herd land(by the lead stallion/mare).
Q: CAN I CHALLENGE FOR MARES/STALLIONS OR LAND? A: Yes. You may attempt to steal a mare or stallion, but if successful the lead you stole from may issue a challenge against you to win the horse back. That's a visa versa situation as well. As for land you may only challenge a land owner if you have at least one band member and a minimum of 100 posts.
Q: I'VE BEEN CHALLENGED! NOW WHAT? A: All stallions and mares may be challenged for their herd/band members, and if applicable, their lands. You may accept or decline the challenge, but if you decline, the herd/band member or land is automatically taken by your challenger. Administrators will decide who wins based on roleplaying skills.
Q: WHAT IS THE STEALING BOARD? A: All stallions and mares that are at least 3 and have claimed at least one other horse may try to "steal" mares and stallions, seeing as though this is easier, quicker, and often more fun than fighting for them. A mare or stallion must be in a herd or band in order to be stolen. More in-depth rules are located in the stealing board.
Q: WHAT HAPPENS TO A SUB-HERD IF THE MAIN HERD LOSES THE LAND IN A BATTLE? A: It will be at the new lead mare or stallion's discretion if the current sub-herd stays or if they have to leave as well. Any lead of a main herd has the right to kick out the current sub-herd at any time.
Q: CAN I KICK HORSES OUT OF MY HERD? A: Yes, by all means, you may kick any horse out that you wish. The only exception are foals under 1. They can not be kicked out until they are weaned.
I PLAY A MARE
Q: WHERE DO I GO FIRST? A: This depends. Do you want to reside in a herd or remain a loner? You can't claim a herd land until there are 100 posts on your account and you have one herd member. Is there a certain herd you wish to join? Go to that herd and ask for permission to join them. Remember, you can be force-claimed by entering a claimed herd land.
Q: CAN MARES LEAD A HERD AND CLAIM OTHER MARES? A: Yes! In the wild, mares are actually the ones that lead the herd to food, water, etc. They may also participate in stealing, fighting, etc.
Q: CAN MY LEAD MARE FIGHT OTHER LEAD MARES AND STALLIONS? A: Yes, by all means. Mares and stallions have an equal playing field on MUSTANG.
MAIN AND SUB HERDS
Q: WHAT IS A MAIN HERD? A: A main herd is the herd which is led by the mare or stallion that has claimed a land.
Q: WHAT IS A SUB HERD? A: A sub herd is a herd that, if allowed to do so, occupies/shares land with a main herd.
Q: DOES EVERY MAIN HERD HAVE A SUB HERD? A: No! The lead of a main herd may decide whether or not s/he wants to allow a sub herd to occupy his or her lands.
Q: WHO HAS MORE POWER? A: The main herd is higher in ranking and naturally has more power than any of the members of the sub herd.
Q: CAN THE LEAD OF THE MAIN HERD SET RULES FOR THE SUB HERD? A: Most definitely. The lead can set terms and rules for the sub herd that occupies their land. One example of this would be giving the lead stallion one mare from the sub herd per year.
HAVE QUESTIONS?? SHOOT ANY STAFF MEMBER A PM, AND THEY MAY ADD IT TO THIS LIST! happy roleplaying!
