He didn't really know how he had ended up here, trudging through blue waters that just tickled his red and gold belly. Vis could count at least six or seven different species of colorful and oddly shaped fish that swam about him. Here and there along the shallows outcroppings of bright coral could be seen below the gently rolling waves.
High above the red dragon floated a small grouping of wispy clouds that seemed in no hurry to move as evening slide the sun ever closer the horizon. He supposed the lack of wind was to blame for their stagnicity and was glad his own movements were not subjected to nature's unpredictable breaths.
He liked to be in some kind of control over his body, even if he did relinquish control from time to time to the whim of mismatched limbs. They had managed to carry him away from Morganna and Nacht - the pair of cousins he had been spending his time with since he met them under the Diamante peaks - and into a stretch of desert before even they had begun to get lost crossing endless dunes. But there had been that little sparkle of sapphire on the horizon that kept him on course every time he crested a new rise. It lead Ra’avis from an aimless lope through the sands to wandering the channel between a few small isles off the coast.
Watching the lively ocean creatures dart from his shadow was a much more favorable experience than getting himself turned around in the red desert.
