There was heat upon her side, it felt warm rather than hot. It felt nice. Like a good friend trying to wake her from the blackness. Slowly the mare opened her eyes, the light of the morning bright and almost blinding for a moment. Why she was here and how she came to this place where unknown to her. As she slowly rose to her shaky hooves the only thing the mare could remember was a name, a face and fear. The name dripped off her tongue in a quiet tone. “Koi.” It sounded so strange, but at the same time normal to the girl. ‘Is that, is that my name? Koi?’ She thought to herself as she made her way over to some water.
Brown eyes looked down as she looked upon her face. “Wha...t happened?” She questioned her reflection. Her head hurt like crazy, and with a cut above her left eye as seen in the water by her reflection it was no wonder why it hurt. But the lady couldn’t remember how she got it. Nor could she remember the name of the face she kept seeing every time she closed her eyes. It wasn’t her face. So was it Koi or was she Koi? And why did her blood run cold and fear strike her heart every time she thought of the face?
Shaking her head the mare decided until told otherwise she would call herself Koi. It was better than telling others she didn’t know her name. Wait where there others? “Where am I?” She questioned in a thirsty voice as she looked around her. This place was new that much she was sure of, but then again she didn’t remember where she had came from either. Looking again at the water she lowered her head and dunk from it with haste. After she had her fill and her throat didn’t feel like it was no longer dry and on fire the mare named Koi moved away from her spot. Each step was taken slowly, and it took her a long while to get only a few feet. Stopping under the shade of a tree she allowed herself to lean against it and suck in a deep breath before letting it out in a large sigh.
