Name: Electra
Gender: Mare
Breed: Morab x Kiger Mustang
Genetics: Ee/aa/nCh/nCr/nZ
Age: 4 years
Arrived in Tathra: Spring, Year 1
Coat Color: Silver classic cream champagne dun
Height: 15.1hh
Eye Color: Pale blue-green
Personality: Electra was always taught from a very young age that a mare’s sole purpose in life is to submit to her stallion and bear his foals, so as such she wants nothing more than to be a mother, and to be settled in a herd environment. She enjoys being the centre of attention, especially where stallions are concerned, however can get quite jealous if another mare starts stealing that attention away from her – indeed she doesn’t often make friends with other mares, as she sees them all as rivals. She can be quite vain and manipulative, although hides this all under a prim, proper and almost reserved façade. Romantic love is a foreign term to her, as she believes that her worth comes only from her ability to bear perfect foals. She is also rather naïve, having been sheltered for much of her young life - however in spite of her naivety, there is a clever and somewhat conniving nature hidden under those pretty looks.
History: The youngest child of elderly, doting parents, Electra’s childhood was a charmed one.Without a care in the world, the filly was treated like a princess, and her parents, especially her mother, made great efforts to groom her into the perfect young lady. She was taught from a very young age that a mare’s purpose was to bear foals for the stallion who claimed her, and Electra never once questioned this. At the turn of her fourth year, Electra’s parents decided that now that their daughter was of age, it was time for her to make her own way in the world, so she left her birth herd for
the first time in her life, in the hopes of finding a herd. After a month or so of travelling, she has now arrived in Tathra…
Sample Post: It had been a long time since Yuri had found herself in a forest. Normally, it was the meadows and plains in which she felt most at home - a sweeping expanse of flat land beneath the blue arc of the sky, where she was free to run. To feel the wind tangling in her hair, to hear it singing in her ears as she galloped - to the young painted mare, there was no feeling like it in the world. However, summer had arrived, and with it its flaring heat. Of course, Yuri would have been happy to continue her merry way through Elysia's Grand Plains, however her white pelt and the pink skin of her muzzle, so sensitive to the harshness of the sun's rays, had caused her to seek shelter in the shade of the Maples.
Under a canopy of trees, the forest was quite dim; however, some of the sun's boldest rays had filtered through the gaps in the leaves, creating a constantly shifting dappled pattern of light and shade on Yuri's coat. She found herself feeling unusually calm in this change of scenery, so vastly different from the open plains she was accustomed to. The forest was oddly beautiful, in its own way, and for once Yuri did not feel the urge to race with the wind as she so often did. No, this was a place for reflection. A place for rest.
Rest. It was a relatively strange phenomenon to the tovero, having grown up constantly on the move with her nomadic mother. Change and migration were simply a part of life for her. However, Yuri realised with some surprise, it had been so long, perhaps too long, since she had simply stopped, for no earthly purpose other than simply pausing. And this place, this maple forest, looked like such a place to pause. Finding a small glade where the sunlight was slightly stronger, the Paint cross folded her long legs beneath her and rested her head on the soft grass. Watching the leaves of the trees above her sway gently in the breeze, she sighed deeply, letting her mismatched eyes gradually flicker shut.
Rest. It had been too long since she had allowed herself this much.
(This is a post for one of my other charries on another site, hope that's ok!)
