A hardened soldier with a soft interior, Brienne is a woman who knows what is it to be mocked and scrutinised, but all she has ever wanted is to be taken seriously as a warrior. Self conscious about her height and heavy build, she can come across as awkward and shy in polite company, however she comes into her own on the battlefield. Beneath her roughened exterior is a girl with a childlike faith in others, who wants to see the good in everyone. Loyal to a fault, honour and duty is of the utmost importance to her, and she looks down on those who would scorn such things. PAST Brienne was born the only child to aging parents – her dam died soon after she was born, and so the young Brienne was taken care of by a wet nurse. Her father had originally hoped for a son to carry on his name, however with Brienne shaping up to be his only heir, he resolved to teach her to become a warrior. Brienne turned out to be a promising young knightess, and when the time came for her to choose a mate, she refused and resolved to further her training. Upon her father’s death, she left her homeland and found herself in Tathra.
