The last thing I heard was you whispering goodbye,
And then I heard you flatline
And then I heard you flatline
The day was warm, and Vanguards' ashen skin burned. There was no escape for him, as the charcoal that stained the fur right down to his insides seemed to attract the heat right to his lithe frame. Ocean blue eyes scanned the multi-toned coral for something to gain his interest, anything to break him from this sticky apathy. Lean muscles lounged themselves over his avian bones, strong from years of having to care for himself as his former home became uninhabitable, and boring to the young man.
The girls there were all fake and frigid, the kings old but still refusing to die and give him a shot at ruling. Vanguard rolled his cerulean orbs, a short sigh escaping velveteen kissers which ached for use. Not only was he without a kingdom, there was no harem of beautiful girls following him around like lovesick puppies, ready to be bedded at his slightest wish. The bachelor was on the hunt for such a harem; the kingdom would come later, perhaps.
A splash from the shallows alerted the young man to his proximity to another, the first person he would have met since wandering upon Tathra. He looked from the foliage where he had been walking, and saw a speckled girl paddling in the shallow water. She was striking, and although he couldn't pinpoint her lineage, he was sure it was fine. A wicked grin pasted itself on his lips, and he advanced with his strong jaw tilted slightly, but not quite arrogantly. "Hello gorgeous," He spoke with an easy tone, that wicked grin appearing once more when her olive eyes locked with his, "What's a pretty little thing like yourself doing so far away from the safety of your boyfriend?"
